AWC volleyball notches first win

Karen Sitkiewicz is off the shnide. The Arizona Western volleyball coach recorded her first win with the Matadors with a 28-26, 25-19, 25-18 victory Wednesday at South Mountain in a Arizona Community College Athletic conference match.

The Matadors lost a 20-14 lead in the first game and trailed 26-25 before rallying for the win. They cruised in the next two games, never trailing in Game 3.

Luci Toazzi led the Matadors (1-2, 1-2 ACCAC) against South Mountain (1-3, 0-1) with 17 kills and 17 digs.

The Matadors play their first home game 5 p.m. Friday against Eastern Arizona at The House.
