Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Members of a Marine Harrier squadron were scheduled to leave Yuma today (Saturday) on a deployment in the Pacific, the Marine Corps Air Station said.

Six vertical takeoff Harriers and 100 Marines assigned to VMA-311 will travel to San Diego, board the USS Peleliu, an amphibious assault ship, and depart Sunday on a Western Pacific tour, according to the MCAS public affairs office.

The Yuma-based Marines will serve as part of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit on the deployment that is expected to last six to seven months, MCAS said.
