Tree, landscape expo Oct. 25

  The public can learn about tree care, landscape design and other topics at the 2008 Yuma Tree and Landscape Expo from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Yuma Civic Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Drive.

  Topics to be covered include tree care, turf, native plants, palm tree care, plant selection, citrus, insect pests and wildlife habitat. Participants can choose the classes they attend.

  Also part of the expo are a trade show and the Tree Kids Program for ages 4-12 and optional beef tri-tip lunch, for which advance ticket purchase is requested.

  The trade show allows visitors to learn about construction materials, plants, landscape contractors and outdoor living

   Tickets for admission only are $2 each and can be purchased at the door of the civic center the day of the event.

  Tickets for $5, which includes lunch, must be purchased in advance at the city Parks and Recreation office inside City Hall, One City Plaza at 3rd Street and Madison Avenue.

  The Yuma Tree and Landscape Expo is sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with Arizona Public Service, The Sun, University of Arizona Cooperative Extension and the Arizona Community Tree Council.
